Facial Profile and Characteristics of Occlusal Features in Primary Dentition among Children Aged 2-5 Years in Southern Nigeria

Objective: To assess the facial profile and characteristic features of occlusion in primary dentition among paediatric dental patients a teaching hospital Southern Nigeria.
 Methods: A cross-sectional study comprising 224 children aged 2 to 5 years who visited clinic over one year with full complements their dentition. All were screened for molar canine relations, overjet, overbite, anthropoid developmental spaces, as well profiles, data recorded. Data analyzed using statistical software (SPSS version 21.0, Chicago). The Chi-square test categorical level significance all tests set at probability value less than 0.05.
 Results: Bilateral flush terminal plane relationship was most prevalent 126(56%), followed by mesial step 84(37.5%). Molar gender statistically significant (P= 0.001). class I common 189(84.4%), bilateral normal overjet 191(85.3%) overbite 183(81.7%). majority spaces maxilla 136(60.7%) mostly males (69%); this (p=0.023). Anthropoid 198(88.4%) (94%), which (p=0.019). Straight 147(65.6%), although more (67%), it not (p=0.823).
 Conclusion: study's occlusal characteristics straight profile, relationship, 1 canine, maxillary spaces. Revealed desirable but some that deviate from norm.
